BuCor warns public vs fake social media account

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Wednesday, April 16, warned the public against a fake social media account of one of its top officials.

The fake Facebook account was for BuCor Deputy Director Gil T. Torralba, head of the bureau's security and operations, the BuCor said.

“For your safety and to prevent the spread of misinformation, please remain vigilant and verify the legitimacy of online profiles claiming to represent government officials,” the BuCor advised the public in its official Facebook account.

It said the advisory serves as “a formal warning to protect the integrity of public communication and the reputation of Deputy Director Torralba.”

“The account is not authorized and has no affiliation whatsoever with Deputy Director Torralba or any official government agency,” it also said.

“All information, messages, or requests coming from this fake account should be disregarded and reported immediately,” it urged the public.
