Over 1,200 cops tapped to secure Mimaropa during Holy Week

At least 1,200 policemen were deployed in various transportation hubs, churches and places of convergence in the Mimaropa region as part of the security measures for the Holy Week.

Police Brig. Gen. Roger Quesada, director of the Police Regional Office 4B, said the deployment is part of the intensified police visibility as thousands of people are expected to troop to the five provinces of the region--Mindoro Oriental and Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan-- either for Lenten observance with relatives or take advantage of the long break for vacation.

Palawan and Mindoro provinces are among the main vacation choices in Luzon, and one of the busiest seaports in the country, the Calapan port, is also located in the region.

“The security plan includes intensified police visibility and the strategic deployment of personnel to areas where large gatherings and heightened public mobility are expected,” said Quesada.

“Our goal is to enable the faithful to observe this sacred season in a safe and peaceful environment. We’ve positioned our personnel where their presence is most needed—churches, highways, terminals, and tourist destinations,” he added.

Quesada said the deployment includes over 250 officers assigned to more than 119 places of worship; around 130 personnel detailed to business centers, markets, and malls; and about 150 officers stationed at transport terminals, seaports, and airports.

He said close to 200 law enforcers are managing traffic and assisting travelers along major thoroughfares, while more teams have been deployed to tourist attractions, parks, and recreational areas.

The official said dedicated hotlines have been established in key locations—including major roads, business hubs, transport terminals, and public spaces—to provide immediate assistance, address emergencies, and serve as contact points for public concerns.

Mobile and motorcycle patrols, he said, are conducting continuous rounds, while fixed checkpoints and covert monitoring units have been activated to deter and disrupt any potential criminal activity.

“The Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) is on full alert, ready to respond to emergencies and unforeseen incidents. All personnel have been instructed to remain highly vigilant and uphold the highest standards of professionalism,” said Quesada.

“We will not rest and will remain alert 24/7—on the ground, in the streets, and at every checkpoint—to ensure that our communities feel safe, secure, and supported during this sacred week. This is our promise: to protect with presence and to serve with integrity,” he added.
