The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will implement 24-hour road repairs across at least 30 sections of Metro Manila from Apr. 16 to 21 to improve infrastructure and ease traffic flow during the Holy Week break.

DPWH-National Capital Region (NCR) Director Loleta Malaluan said the roadworks will cover major areas in Quezon City, Malabon, Caloocan, Makati, and Pasig, including sidewalk restoration, canal declogging, and flyover retrofitting.

As part of its maintenance program, the agency will replace expansion joints on key flyovers along EDSA, including the Magallanes Flyover northbound, C-5 Ortigas Flyover southbound, and Ortigas-C5 Interchange.

Malaluan said the Kamuning and Quezon Avenue flyovers underwent initial rehabilitation under the 2024 budget, but additional works will be implemented in phases due to the delayed release of funds.

She added that the 2025 budget has already been secured to continue the retrofitting of flyovers and other major structures along EDSA and surrounding road networks.

To minimize traffic disruption, the DPWH is closely coordinating with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on rerouting schemes, urging motorists to take alternate routes such as the Mabuhay Lanes and regularly monitor traffic advisories on MMDA and DPWH-NCR’s digital platforms.

Although lighter traffic is expected due to the Holy Week exodus to the provinces, Malaluan assured the public that mitigation measures are in place to reduce inconvenience for motorists remaining in Metro Manila.
