Marcos said this as he led the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas campaign rally in Batangas City on Saturday, May 3.
In his speech, the President said connecting Filipinos to the internet and building critical water infrastructure are central to his push for development that reaches even the country’s remotest communities.
"Itong taon na ito, lahat ng mga lugar na hindi makabitan ng internet, makakabitan na (This year, all areas that don’t have internet will finally be connected)," he said.
"Aking layunin na bago ako umalis sa aking opisina, bawat Pilipino ay may internet na kahit saan man sila—sa taas ng bundok, sa isla na malayo—mayroon po sila dahil kailangang-kailangan (It is my goal that before I leave office, every Filipino will have internet access, whether they are on top of a mountain or on a remote island—because it is very much needed)," he added.
Marcos said digital connectivity is essential to ensure equal access to opportunities, especially in education, healthcare, and livelihood.
Meanwhile, the President said the government is ramping up dam construction and flood control projects to address water shortages, climate-related disasters, and rising energy demand.
"Panay ang patayo po natin ng mga dam. Panay po ang patayo natin ng mga flood control project dahil nagbabago po ang panahon (We’ve been continuously building dams and flood control projects because the climate is changing)," he said.
He added that these efforts will also help secure water for households and farms.
"Hindi lamang flood control, kasama na rin po ‘yan yung pag-iipon ng tubig para mainom ng mga household at para sa irigasyon sa agrikultura (It’s not just for flood control, but also for storing water for households and agricultural irrigation)," he said.
He said the newly completed “One Grid” will ensure that electricity reaches all parts of the country.
"Dati putol ‘yan sa Mindanao, putol ‘yan sa Negros, putol ‘yan sa Luzon. Ngayon, may koneksyon na yun (Before, Mindanao, Negros, and Luzon were disconnected. Now, they’re all connected)," he stated.
The President credited local governments and various stakeholders for helping implement these programs on the ground.
