Antipolo diocese to attempt world record for largest spiritual pilgrimage

The Diocese of Antipolo announced its plan to try to set a Guinness World Record for the "largest gathering for a walking spiritual pilgrimage in 12 hours," Bishop Ruperto Santos said on Monday, April 14.

Santos urged devotees to participate in the 17-kilometer pilgrimage from Metro Manila to the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in Antipolo City, Rizal.

This year’s Alay Lakad will start at 6 p.m. on Maundy Thursday, April 17, to 6 a.m. on Good Friday, April 18.

In 2024, Rizal police recorded 7.4 million participants. The Diocese of Antipolo expects more people to join this year.

Donations from this year's Alay Lakad will help fund the construction of the Our Lady of Antipolo Chapel in Tanay, Rizal, which received a P100,000 contribution for its altar last year. (Vincent Brian Gutierrez)
