Two newly appointed Court of Appeals (CA) associate justices have assumed their posts after taking their oaths of office before Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo.
They are Associate Justices Edilwasif T. Baddiri and Jeoffre Willkom Acebido.
Baddiri and Acebido – who were appointed by President Marcos last February -- took over the posts vacated by the now retired Associate Justices Edwin D. Sorongon and Victoria Isabel A. Paredes, respectively.

Before his CA post, Baddiri was presiding judge of Branch 115 of the Pasay City regional trial court (RTC) and later as executive judge.
He also served as commissioner of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos from 2010 to 2015.
CA Associate Justice Jeoffre Willkom Acebido takes oath of office before Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo
Acebido, on the other hand, was presiding judge of Branch 41 of RTC in Cagayan de Oro City. He has served the judiciary for 16 years as RTC judge.
He was a Chief Justice Cayetano Arellano Awardee for Judicial Excellence. He was also a prosecutor, a public attorney, and senior legal officer at the Commission on Human Rights.
