According to the city’s Public Information Office (PIO), the mid-rise development is part of Mayor Jeannie Sandoval’s broader housing program aimed at uplifting the quality of life of local residents, particularly those in need.
Sandoval underscored the importance of the initiative by saying that decent housing is a basic right and a key part of her administration’s agenda.
We are starting another housing project to provide proper shelter for Malabueño families. This is part of our plans for the safety and welfare of Malabueños. We know that having one's own home is a dream for our fellow citizens. That’s why we strive to create projects such as this for you. In Malabon, dreams do come true and there is hope.)," she said.
The City Housing and Urban Development Department (CHUDD) said the project was initiated under City Ordinance No. 05-2025, which declares the site under the city’s Socialized Housing and Land-for-the-Landless Program.
It is intended for informal settler families and low-income residents, aligning with the city’s broader vision of urban revitalization, inclusive development, and sustainable community growth.
The Engineering Department said that each of the two buildings will feature a total floor area of 4,066.5 square meters and contain 100 units, each measuring 24 square meters.
The ground floor of each building will include leasable spaces, a reception lobby, administrative and security offices, a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), and common restrooms.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place as construction continues on another 11-story mid-rise housing project in Barangay Tinajeros.
These projects will not only provide decent and safe homes for our fellow Malabueños, but they will also have access to facilities tailored to their needs)," City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete said.
Since 2024, the CHUDD has launched an Online Housing Application platform that has already received over 23,000 pre-registrations.
A total of 727 families have been relocated to the St. Gregory Homes project in Barangay Pangulo, and around 700 more have received Certificates of Entitlement for Lot Allocation (CELA). (Jhoana Mae Delfin)
