The PBA has cracked the whip on Phoenix big man Larry Muyang, hitting the 6-foot-6 center with an indefinite ban due to a breach of contract.
Commissioner Willie Marcial announced the penalty on Sunday, April 13, after a meeting between him and Muyang.
The Fuel Masters big man found himself in hot water after he suited up for the Pampanga Giants in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League while he still has a live contract in the PBA with his current team Phoenix.
Aside from the ban, he could also face some legal issues should Phoenix pursues it.
Muyang's contract with the Fuel Masters is until the end of May.
“Ang status niya ngayon is ban sa PBA. Puwede siyang i-demanda ng Phoenix. Kausap ko siya kanina, may mga problema siya pero sabi ko, maski ganun, may kontrata ka sa Phoenix,” said Marcial.
According to Marcial, Muyang’s ban can still be appealed although the entire PBA board of governors will have the last say even if he manages to make amends with his mother club.
“May bagong ruling na kapag na-ban ka dahil hindi ka [sumunod] sa kontrata, kahit um-okay na ang team mo, kailangan umapela sa board of governors,” explained the league chief.
