The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Monday, April 14, vowed to speed up the deportation of foreign workers of the now banned Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

The expeditious deportation was assured by BI Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado after 84 Chinese POGO workers were sent back to their country last April 11.
The BI noted that the 84 Chinese were arrested during government operations against POGO facilities in Tarlac, Cebu, and Paranaque City.
They were found to be either overstaying or undocumented following their arrest.
“This is a stern warning to all illegal foreign operators: we are watching, and we will act decisively,” declared Viado.
He said the BI "will continue to work hand-in-hand with law enforcement agencies to protect the integrity of our borders."
He pointed out that the recent deportation of the 84 Chinese nationals “reflects our strong resolve to implement President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to shut down illegal POGOs and remove foreign nationals who violate our immigration laws.”
“We are grateful to the PAOCC (Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission) and the Chinese Embassy for their seamless coordination throughout the process,” he said.
