The Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas ticket--and by extension, the entire pro-Marcos administration coalition--remains intact.
Navotas City lone district Rep. Toby Tiangco, campaign manager of the Alyansa Senate slate, had this to say Monday, April 14 amid rumors of disharmony within their ranks.
"The five-party Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas composed of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), Lakas-CMD, National People’s Coalition (NPC), National Unity Party (NUP), and Nacionalista Party (NP) is intact," Tiangco said.
"Our candidates continue to receive overwhelming support both at the national and local level, and even from grassroots organizations. This is something that we welcome and we are proud of because politics is about addition, not division. It is about building coalitions. And in any election every bit of support counts," he said.
Comprising the administration-back ticket are former Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III; former Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) secretary Benhur Abalos; former Senators Panfilo Lacson, Manny Pacquiao; Senators Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., Francis Tolentino; Makati City Mayor Abby Binay; House Deputy Speaker Las Piñas City lone district Rep. Camille Villar; and House Deputy Majority Leader ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo.
Reelectionist Senator Imee Marcos used to be the 12th member of the administration slate, until a few weeks ago when she decided to no longer join its campaign.
This, as she criticized the administration of President Marcos--her own little brother--for allowing the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
"Ang mga kandidato na Alyansa ay personal na pinili ni Pangulong Marcos dahil sa kanilang mahusay na kakayahan at matatag na karanasan (President Marcos handpicked the Alyansa candidates for their great skills and solid experience)," Tiangco said.
"The Alyansa candidates are part of the administration slate because they are committed to the vision we all share: Bagong Pilipinas," he noted.
"One of our goals is to build broad support around the shared platform of Alyansa, and our overarching objective is for all our candidates to win because they are capable, committed, and deserving of the trust and confidence of the Filipino people," Tiangco further said.
"Ang bawat pag-endorso na makukuha ng bawat kandidato ng Alyansa ay patunay na pagtango at pagyakap sa Bagong Pilipinas na isinusulong ng ating Pangulo (Every endorsement that each candidate of Alyansa receives is proof that the President’s Bagong Pilipinas is being accepted).
"And that is what matters most," the campaign manager added.
