114 QCPD personnel receive financial assistance through 'Damayan’ Program

A total of 114 personnel from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) received financial assistance through its Damayan Program, the QCPD announced on Monday, April 14.

QCPD chief Col. Melecio Buslig Jr. and PEMS Boy Clarito Blancad, District Executive Senior Police Officer (DESPO), who continues to lead the program’s implementation, spearheaded the distribution of financial grants to the personnel.

Buslig emphasized that the Damayan program remains one of the QCPD’s vital initiatives to provide timely support to officers in need.

He further stated that the program has distributed a total of P2,200,000 from September 20, 2024, to March 31, benefiting personnel from various stations and units in the district.

From the total fund distributed, P300,000 was given as burial assistance for the families of three deceased QCPD personnel, while P1.54 million supported the immediate family members of 77 personnel who had lost loved ones.

Also, P250,000 was allocated for the medical needs of 25 officers, and P30,000 was provided to personnel wounded in police operations (WIPO). 

Meanwhile, P80,000 was distributed as part of the Salamat Kapatid assistance program for eight retiring personnel.

“Ang Damayan Program ay hindi lamang simpleng pagbibigay ng tulong pinansyal, ito ay patunay na may malasakit at pagkakaisa sa hanay ng ating kapulisan dto sa QCPD. Nararapat lamang na maramdaman ng bawat pulis na may katuwang sila, hindi lamang sa pagseserbisyo, kundi pati na rin sa pagharap sa mga pagsubok (The Damayan Program is not just about providing financial assistance — it is a testament to the compassion and unity within our police force here at the QCPD. Every police officer deserves to feel that they are not alone, not only in serving the community but also in facing life’s challenges),” Buslig said.
