President Marcos has called on Filipinos to remain resilient and optimistic amid adversity as the country commemorates Holy Week.

In his message released by Malacañang on Sunday morning, April 13, the President urged Filipinos to learn from Christ's endurance.
The President also reflected on the limitations of human beings but reminded Filipinos that limitations and frailties are not a hindrance for greater causes.
"Like Christ, may we remain resilient and optimistic in life despite all the challenges that come our way," he said.
"May all the adversities that we face shape us into better persons, capable of understanding and charity towards our brethren," he added.
Marcos encouraged the nation to reflect on the "Lord's perfect example of compassion and self-giving."
He emphasized that Jesus Christ's journey to Calvary was not an easy one, noting that "Our Savior knew that the path of Calvary was not an easy journey."
The President also highlighted the importance of obedience and sacrifice.
"In dutiful obedience to the Father's will, He fulfilled His mission, enduring hardships and suffering, all in the name of love," he said.
"Through His sacrifice, the gift of salvation came into our midst," he added, pointing to the significance of Christ's death in the Christian faith.
Serve with honesty, integrity
House Speaker Martin Romualdez said Holy Week should serve as a reminder to public servants to serve with honesty, integrity, and compassion, and to attend to those needing help.
“For those of us in public service, Holy Week is a time to pause and return to the core of our calling. It is a reminder to serve with sincerity, to lead with empathy, and to be more attentive to those who are quietly carrying burdens,” Romualdez said in a message on Palm Sunday, April 13 ahead of Holy Week.
Romualdez urged Filipinos to reflect on the life of Jesus Christ.
“As we enter the solemn days of Holy Week, I invite every Filipino to reflect on the life, suffering, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. His journey reminds us that true strength is found in sacrifice, healing is born of forgiveness, and faith offers hope even in our darkest moments,” Romualdez said.
“In Christ’s story, we see our own. We know what it means to struggle, to endure loss, and to keep believing. The Filipino spirit has always risen above hardship - with quiet courage, deep faith, and compassion for others,” he added.
“May it renew our values, strengthen our families, and inspire greater kindness and unity in our communities,” Romualdez said.
"On behalf of the House of Representatives, I offer my prayers for a meaningful, quiet, and grace-filled Holy Week. May the love of Christ dwell in every Filipino home, and may God continue to bless and guide our beloved Philippines,” he added. (With a report from Ellson Quismorio)
