Cavite City records sweltering 47°C heat index; 25 more areas reach danger level on April 13
Cavite City endured extreme heat on Sunday, April 13, as the heat index soared to a sweltering 47 degrees Celsius (°C), based on the monitoring of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
This recorded heat index places Cavite City at the top of 26 areas nationwide that experienced dangerous conditions on Sunday.
A heat index within the 42°C to 51°C range is classified by PAGASA as dangerous, as it poses significant health risks such as heat cramps and heat exhaustion. Prolonged exposure under such conditions may also lead to heatstroke.
Sangley Point in Cavite City registered the day’s peak heat index.
Close behind were Puerto Princesa City in Palawan at 45°C, followed by Pasay City, Metro Manila; Echague, Isabela; Baler, Aurora; Tanauan, Batangas; and San Jose, Occidental Mindoro with a heat index of 44°C.
Heat indices between 42°C and 43°C were also reported in Casiguran, Aurora (43°C); San Ildefonso, Bulacan (43°C); Olongapo City, Zambales (43°C); Tarlac City, Tarlac (43°C); Cuyo, Palawan (43°C); Virac, Catanduanes (43°C); Pili, Camarines Sur (43°C); Dumangas, Iloilo (43°C); La Carlota, Negros Occidental (43°C); Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur (43°C); Iba, Zambales (42°C); Muñoz, Nueva Ecija (42°C); Los Baños, Laguna (42°C); Mambusao, Capiz (42°C); Iloilo City, Iloilo (42°C); Catarman, Northern Samar (42°C); Baybay, Leyte (42°C); Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte (42°C); and General Santos City, South Cotabato (42°C).
