Boss Toyo withdraws from running for public office: 'Ayaw ko maging katawa-tawa'

YouTube star Boss Toyo, whose real name is Jayson Luzadas, explained why he begged off from running in the upcoming midterm election.

During a press conference in Bonifacio Global City, Boss Toyo revealed that he received offers for the second nominee position for the Pinoy Ako Partylist and as councilor for District 1 in Manila. However, he declined both offers.

"Hindi pa ito para sa akin eh. Hindi ko alam kung kelan, hindi ko alam kung tatakbo. Pero para sa akin, wala pa po siya talaga sa isip ko. Noong una akala ko, kaya ko. Saka siyempre, wala akong alam unang-una. Ayoko namang daanin sa pagiging popular o kaya pagiging mabait o matulungin. (It's not for me yet. I don't know when I don't know if I'll run. But for me, it's not really on my mind yet. At first, I thought, I could do it. Then, of course, I don't know anything at first. I don't want to go through the process of being popular or being kind or helpful)," Boss Toyo said.

Boss Toyo stated that running for public office requires significant effort and courage from community members.

"Opinyon ko lang ito. Hindi sapat na umupo ka sa kahit anong posisyon kung wala kang alam sa pagpapatakbo. Mahirap yan kasi tao na yung hinahawakan mo. Governance, kung nasa national ka. Kung mag-co-congress ka naman gagawa ka ng batas. Ano 'yung gagawin mo kung sumikat ka lang as an influencer? (This is just my opinion. It is not enough to sit in any position if you do not know how to run it. That is difficult because you will take the lead for your people. Governance, if you are at the national level. If you're in Congress, you'll make laws. How will you do that if you started as an influencer?)," he added.

Motivated by his desire to assist others, Boss Toyo was encouraged by those around him to pursue public office.

"Actually lahat sila pinapatakbo ako, ako lang yung nag-beg off kasi ayokong maging katawa-tawa. Ayoko kasing masabihan na wala ka namang alam. (They all convinced me to run, while I begged off because I didn't want to appear ridiculous. I just didn't want to hear that I didn't know anything)," he said.

Members of the entertainment press recently had the opportunity to watch the official music video for the new single "Geng Geng." 

The video captures the essence of overcoming life's challenges, encouraging listeners to stand tall and embrace their victories, no matter how small they may be.

For his popular online show "Pinoy Pawnstars," Boss Toyo has invited celebrities to launch his museum, which will showcase priceless celebrity antiques and artifacts set to open in May.
