Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) chief Dakila ‘Dax’ Cua is calling for more appropriate infrastructure projects in Quirino to transform the province into a prime eco-tourism destination in the country.
Cua, who is also the governor of Quirino, said the government should take advantage of the natural wonders that allow us Quirino to position itself as a destination for eco-tourism.
However, Cua stressed that there is a need to continue putting in place the necessary infrastructure that could help capitalize these advantages.
The governor also vowed to continue improving health facilities to make them capable of delivering quality health services not only to the people of the province but also to tourists.
He also said that his administration would prioritize ensuring there are safe roads to tourist destinations, accessible transportation, facilities such as clean restrooms and waste disposal, among others.
“Most importantly, we have to implement mechanisms that would safeguard the integrity of our eco-tourist spots, making sure that these are properly conserved and protected even as we get to enjoy them,” he added.
The ULAP chief assured that assistance in the form of training and finance especially to our local communities will be appropriately provided “so that they could directly benefit from the economic gains brought about by our eco-tourism push.’’
“Quirino boasts various natural tourist spots such as forests, waterfalls, caves and rock formations, which include the Nagbukel Municipal Tree Park, Landingan Viewpoint, which is managed by the Bugkalot indigenous group, Aglipay Caves, and Manuela Falls, among others,’’ Cua continued.
