Rep. Richard Gomez slams Kerwin Espinosa

Says Albuera, Leyte mayoral bet has no credibility

CEBU CITY – Rolan Kerwin Espinosa has pointed to politics as the motive behind the recent attempt on his life.

The self-confessed drug lord has also seemingly implicated Leyte fourth district Rep. Richard Gomez and wife Ormoc City, Leyte Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez in the failed slay try.

Gomez said everything that Espinosa says should be taken with a grain of salt.

“Do not believe somebody like him who has no credibility and a self-confessed drug lord. He will not do anything good for mankind," Gomez said in a statement.

Espinosa, mayoral bet in Albuera, Leyte, was shot and wounded in the chest while campaigning on Thursday afternoon, April 10, in Barangay Tinag-an.

He has called on the Gomezes to look into the attack especially that some personnel of the Ormoc City Police Office were taken into custody following the attack.

One of Espinosa's opponents in the May elections is the brother of Mayor Gomez.

Gomez said an investigation is ongoing and some "flaws" have surfaced.

"I am still investigating what really transpired and once I have definitive details I will give an interview. For now, there are so many flaws to the whole story that we are watching," Gomez said.
