Reelectionist Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa has gained a newfound zeal in wooing voters through an unconventional, "guerilla-style" type of campaigning.

Dela Rosa said that he does not mind going around the country to personally talk to voters in his reelection bid in the May 12 mid-term elections.
He said in previous interviews that his team had to adjust their manner of campaigning due to being seen as the opposition to the current administration, with many local government units (LGUs) turning them away or merely giving silent support in fear of reprisal.
"No plaza? No venue? No host LGU? No problem! Thank you, Rusco and Rusi Motorcycle, homegrown Filipino company based in Dumaguete City," the Mindanaoan senator said in a Facebook post that came with photos and videos from his visit to the motorcycle company.
Dela Rosa also shared that he found a renewed appreciation of the more intimate style of campaigning that he has mounted. He said it provided him with opportunities to engage voters in conversations.
"Kahit saan tayo umaabot, kinakausap na lang natin ‘yung mga LGU chiefs at ‘yung mga taong may hawak rin ng mga tao, mga leaders na pwedeng makatulong sa atin (No matter where we go, we just talk to the local government unit chiefs and the people who hold influence, the leaders who can help us out)," Dela Rosa said.
"So sige lang, kahit na sabihin nating unconventional itong aking pangangampanya but still, ma-consider din natin na very personal dahil kung sa guerilla warfare, this is hand-to-hand combat, person-to-person campaigning talaga itong ginagawa natin (So it's okay, even if we say that my campaign is unconventional, we can still consider it very personal because, in guerrilla warfare terms, this is hand-to-hand combat—it's truly person-to-person campaigning that we're doing)," the lawmaker added.
Dela Rosa visited several parts of vote-rich Cebu province to seek support for his reelection bid. These included Argao, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu City, Mandaue City, Consolacion, Dalaguete, Moalboal, Toledo City and Barili.
In Argao, Dela Rosa was joined by many Cebuanos in a classic boodle fight organized by Mayor Allan Sesaldo and his allies.
Sesaldo and his slate expressed full support to Dela Rosa and raised his hands during the gathering.
Cebuanos in Lapu-Lapu City, Consolacion, Dalaguete, Moalboal, Toledo City and Barili also gave Dela Rosa a warm welcome. Many of them asked for a photo with the reelectionist senator.
In Cebu City, Dela Rosa held a house-to-house campaign, and interacted mostly with the senior citizens of Barangay Mabolo.
“Hand to hand combat campaigning at Mabolo, Cebu City with Mayor Mike Rama and Barug Party,” Dela Rosa shared.
The reelectionist senator likewise visited Mandaue City where he was gladly welcomed by Mayor Jonas Cortes and his party.
Cortes and lawyer Regal Oliva, a candidate for Mandaue City’s congressional seat, shared photos with the senator where they mimicked Dela Rosa’s campaign pose.
Before visiting Cebu, Dela Rosa brought his campaign to Dumaguete City and Oriental Mindoro where some of the local chief executives expressed full support for his candidacy in the 2025 elections.
The Partido Demokratiko ng Pilipinas-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) slate opted to do away with the usual campaign rallies and adjusted their strategy as some local officials could not fully support the opposition’s candidates due to what they claimed were possible consequences from the Marcos administration.
