Malaysia deports Sytin murder suspect

Malaysia has deported businessman Alan Dennis Sytin, who allegedly masterminded the killing of his brother Dominic, president and chief executive officer of United Auctioneers Inc., in 2018 in a hotel at the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority in Olongapo City, Zambales.

The Philippine National Police has taken full custody of Alan, a San Juan City resident.

Alan, 51, who is wanted for murder, arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City at 11:20 p.m. on Friday, April 11, where he was served a warrant of arrest by the Police Regional Office-3.

The warrant dated Sept. 1, 2020, was issued by Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 7 Judge Caroline L. Tobias for murder. The court recommended no bail for the suspect’s temporary liberty.

PRO-3 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jean S. Fajardo, with the NAIA-Aviation Security Group and the City of San Fernando Police Station, received Alan.

He was detained in Malaysia after he was apprehended on March 22, 2025, by the Special Investigation Branch of the Petaling Jaya District Police at the Cobra Rugby Club in Selangor for failure to present a valid travel document, a violation of Section 6(1)(c) of Malaysia's Immigration Act. 

His Philippine passport was cancelled on Sept. 12, 2024 by the Manila RTC Branch 7 through a court order dated June 26, 2024.

Alan was the target of an International Police Organization Red Notice issued on Jan. 24, 2020.

Fajardo credited detailed coordination and intelligence sharing initiated by the PRO-3 for Alan’s apprehension.

Philippine Police Attaché to Malaysia, Police Col. Excelso Lazaga Jr., filed a Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters request against Alan which was promptly acted upon by Malaysian Police Commissioner Datuk Ts. Ahmad Ramdzan bin Daud, resulting in Alan’s apprehension and turnover.

The PNP worked closely with the Philippine Embassy in Malaysia to arrange Alan’s repatriation.

“This mission reflects the PNP’s unyielding resolve to bring criminals to justice, wherever they may flee. Our productive collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police and our diplomatic representatives in Malaysia shows that no fugitive is beyond the reach of law enforcement when nations stand united against crime,” Fajardo said.
