SANTO TOMAS CITY, Batangas – A businessman was robbed of almost P1 million in cash and jewelry on Friday evening, April 11, in a subdivision in Barangay San Rafael, this city.

Police identified the victim as Joven, 51.
Investigation said a man onboard a Gelly Sports Utility Vehicle with license plates NEW-8149 arrived and entered the victim’s house by climbing the concrete fence and destroying the steel grills on the second floor.
The suspect carted away P750,000 in assorted jewelry and P300,000 in cash stored in a portable vault.
The suspect was identified through a PhilHealth ID he presented upon entering the subdivision.
Police are conducting manhunt and follow-up investigation.
Fake dentist
LIAN, Batangas – A fake dentist was apprehended in an entrapment operation on Friday in his residence in Sitio Tubigan, Matabungkay, this town.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Batangas in coordination with the Batangas City Dental Chapter (BCDC) and the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) conducted the operation.
The suspect was engaged in the illegal practice of dentistry, offering various dental services and products at low cost in an unlicensed residential clinic in Barangay Malitam, Batangas City.
The suspect and pieces of evidence were brought to the CIDG-Batangas field office for processing and proper disposition. He faces cases for violation of Republic Act 9484 or the Philippine Dental Act of 2007.
Meanwhile, a 64-year-old man died after he was hit by a multi-purpose vehicle in Barangay Silangang Palale, Tayabas City, Quezon on Friday morning.
City police chief Police Lt. Col. Liza Capistrano identified the victim as Norberto, a resident of Sitio Italan, Tayabas City.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead. The driver of the car, Rolando, 60, faces an appropriate case.
