PDEA nets P397-M shabu, marijuana in 3 months in Cordillera

BAGUIO CITY – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency seized shabu and marijuana valued at P397 million in the first quarter of this year in the Cordillera region.

The agency conducted 742 anti-illegal drugs operations – 214 marijuana eradication, 86 buy-busts, and 30 search warrants.

One-hundred one drug personalities were apprehended – 69 drug pushers and 30 for drug possession. Two drug dens were dismantled and two drug den visitors were caught.

The Regional Barangay Drug Clearing said out of the 1,178 barangays in the Cordillera, 798 are drug-cleared, 382 are drug-free, and 18 are drug-affected. 

The PDEA said the challenge for them is to crack down on the 18 drug-affected barangays where identified drug personalities are residing. Two barangays have marijuana plantations and and six barangays have active drug personalities.
