Kerwin ready to testify before ICC over drug war

TACLOBAN CITY – Kerwin Espinosa said he is ready to testify before the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands over former President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs.

"With what happened to me, whatever happens, I am ready," Albuera, Leyte mayoral candidate Kerwin said on Friday, a day after a failed assassination attempt on Thursday, April 10.

He added that he will testify to attain justice for his father, Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr., who was killed during the drug war of the Duterte administration in 2016.

Kerwin said he pitied former President Duterte who is detained at The Hague but pointed out that there are laws that need to be followed and that he should face the cases filed against him.

Kerwin was wounded in a shooting incident in Barangay Tinag-an while campaigning.

Also wounded was running mate sister Mariel and the daughter of a candidate for councilor.

Seven police officers from Ormoc City were placed under custody for being persons of interest in the shooting.
