Driver wanted for rape, kidnapping nabbed in Rizal

"Aye" being interviewed by the police following his arrest.

A 32-year-old driver of a ride-hailing app who was wanted for raping and kidnapping a 16-year-old girl was arrested by the Antipolo Component City Police in Barangay San Jose, Antipolo, Rizal on Thursday, April 10, the Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) said.

The suspect was identified as "Aye." He was tagged as the No. 4 Most Wanted Person in Calabarzon (Cavite-Laguna-Batangas-Rizal-Quezon).

Based on the police report, Aye was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest for the crimes of statutory rape and kidnapping issued on March 20 without bail.

According to the statement of the victim, the crime happened on Nov. 20, 2023 in Barangay San Jose.

While on her way home from a computer shop, the victim, who is an old acquaintance of the suspect at church, was suddenly grabbed by the suspect and was brought inside the latter's house where she was forced to drink an alcoholic drink called "shembot."

Aye then proceeded to rape the now intoxicated victim multiple times.

Because of the suspect's threat to her, the girl did not inform her family nor the police regarding the incident. Her older sister encouraged her to report the crime and file charges against Aye.

The suspect is now under the custody of the police.
