Dr. John Michael Cabuguason, assistant city veterinarian, said vaccination resume if P700,000 worth of procured vaccines arrive.
The vaccination drive was delayed due to the procurement process but Cabuguason expressed optimism that the vaccines would be delivered by next week.
Nearly 1,500 pets from Barangays 1 to 7 received vaccines last week. Around 8,000 pets or roughly eight percent of the city’s estimated 100,000 dog and cat population have been vaccinated so far this year.
Early this year, the CVO also vaccinated pets in Barangay Mansilingan. The CVO’s goal is to vaccinate at least 80,000 animals by year’s end.
Cabuguason noted that institutionalizing the pet festival, which was celebrated for the first time this year, could help broaden their reach and enhance future vaccination campaigns.
