Want to try Ikebana? Here's the perfect place to start

The Sunshine Place invites everyone to a special series on flower arrangement with Marc Tomas

Marc Tomas, past president of Ikebana International Manila Chapter 108 and a member of the Sogetsu Potential Manila Chapter, will once again share his expertise in Ikebana-Sogetsu, the Japanese art of flower arrangement. He will be conducting a four-session beginner-friendly workshop at Sunshine Place.

Since 2017, Marc has been teaching Ikebana classes at Sunshine Place. His students have participated in several exhibits that showcase their creativity.

In this introductory workshop, participants will learn the basics of Ikebana, including the upright Moribana style, basic slanting, variation #4 with movements, basic Nageire style, and a combination of Moribana and Nageire arrangements.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own gardening scissors. Starter kits—including flowers for the four sessions, a kenzan, and both vertical and horizontal vases—will be available at the venue.

The workshop will be held every Thursday on May 8, 15, 22, and 29, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Slots are limited for this face-to-face lecture-demonstration.
