A scavenger was electrocuted at the excavation site of a flood control project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) flood control project in Pasay City on April 10.

Pasay City Police Chief Col. Joselito De Sesto identified the victim as alias “Dante,” 50. He was found dead at around 7:15 a.m. near the LRT Depot located on Andrews Avenue corner BAC1-11 St., Barangay 190, Pasay City.

De Sesto said that before the discovery of the victim's body, police operatives were conducting a foot patrol together with barangay watchmen and heard a loud explosion at the DPWH flood control project.

Upon checking, they noticed burned electrical wires that caused a power service interruption in Barangay 191, Pasay City.

The police said that while inspecting the construction site, they discovered Dante lying face down in a water-filled canal.

The police report stated that Dante was warned by a barangay watchman identified only as “Roger” at around 1:00 a.m. to leave the site.
