Poll candidate killed in truck-tricycle collision

BACOLOD CITY – A 54-year-old candidate for municipal councilor in Pontevedra, Negros Occidental, was killed in a collision between a tricycle and truck in Hacienda Carmenchita, Barangay Don Salvador Benedicto, Pontevedra on Tuesday night, April 8.

The victim was identified as John Espinosa of Barangay Antipolo, Pontevedra.

Police said the victim was driving his tricycle on his was home from the town proper when he reportedly veered into the opposite lane and collided with a truck.

Espinosa sustained severe injuries and was declared dead in a hospital.

The truck was driven by a 41-year-old resident from La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
