P1.2-M marijuana destroyed in Cebu City

CEBU CITY – Marijuana plants worth P1.2 million were seized in a mountain barangay here on Wednesday morning, April 9.

The Drug Enforcement Group-Special Operation Unit-7, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas, and intelligence support units discovered the marijuana plantation in a 6,000-square meter area in Sitio Maraag, Barangay Sudlon 2.

Law enforces uprooted 6,000 fully grown and 500 marijuana seedlings. 

No one was arrested during the operation, police said.

Investigation is ongoing to identify the owner or the cultivator of the sprawling marijuana plantation.

Police said that the plantation will be sprayed with herbicide to prevent marijuana plants from growing.
