More than 40 additional immigration officers are set to be deployed to the country’s international airports this coming Holy Week, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said.
During the Meet Manila Press Forum on Thursday, April 10, BI Spokesperson Dana Krizia Sandoval said: "Ngayon po ang peak season. Expected po natin marami po talaga mga tao (This is the peak season. So we expect that there will be many people).”
In anticipation of the increased volume of passengers, Sandoval said "meron na tayong idedeploy na additional 40 plus immigration officers doon po sa area to augment ‘yung mga tauhan po natin (we will deploy an additional of over 40 immigration officers to augment our personnel).”
She said that the BI has already opened a wing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 dedicated to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to ensure faster and more efficient immigration processing.
She also said the OFW wing can handle around 3,000 OFWs daily.
She then urged passengers to go to the airports three to four hours earlier to avoid delays in their travel.
