The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will hold job fairs across the country on May 1 to provide accessible employment opportunities for Filipinos in celebration of the 123rd Labor Day.

In response to the recent Labor Force Survey, which showed a slight increase in unemployment in February 2025, DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma emphasized the initiative’s importance in addressing the nation’s employment challenges.

“These job fairs are key to our ongoing efforts to connect Filipinos with meaningful job opportunities,” Laguesma said, noting the government’s collaboration with various sectors to ensure sustainable livelihoods for all.

The job fairs will support not only graduates of government programs like the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) but also farmers, senior high school graduates, and displaced workers in need of upskilling and retooling through partnerships with TESDA, DEPED, and CHED.

Along with job placement services, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Health (DOH) will provide livelihood and health services during the event.

Laguesma added that the job fairs align with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s directive to optimize government resources and improve the lives of Filipinos, especially in remote areas.

“With the full support of Program Convergence Budgeting, the government ensures that employment, skills development, and health services under the Bagong Pilipinas campaign reach even the most remote communities,” he said.
