Lanao del Sur 1st district Zia Alonto Adiong wondered out loud Thursday, April 10 whether or not controversial vlogger Sass Rogando Sasot still had a sliver of honor left in her.
Adiong said this in his retort to Sasot, who branded the House of Representatives--of which the solon was a part of--as a "very corrupt" institution.
“Una sa lahat, may honor pa ba siya? (First of all, does she have any honor left?)” Adiong asked.
“I mean these are people who portray themselves as heroes but do not have the honor to face a legitimate investigation and to face the public and explain themselves under oath kung bakit may mga sinasabi silang hindi tama at hindi totoo (as to why they are spreading lies and inaccuracies),” he said.
During House tri-committee (tri-comm) hearing Tuesday, April 8, the special joint panel cited for contempt Sasot and three other pro-Duterte vloggers. The contempt citation comes with an arrest order.
In Sasot’s case, she was penalized by tri-comm for her failure to attend the series of hearings despite multiple summons. This reportedly caused her to respond with the sarcastic remark, “It’s an honor to be cited in contempt by a very corrupt House of Representatives led by a very corrupt Speaker.”
Adiong said those who truly value honor should show up, explain themselves, and participate in public deliberations instead of resorting to attacks online.
“So I think being honorable is to not only being brave online but brave enough to face the charges and under oath express your sentiments,” Adiong said.
The three other social media personalities slapped with contempt citation were Mark Lopez, Jeffrey “Ka Eric” Celiz, and Lorraine Badoy. They earned this by either snubbing the hearings or taking to social media to assail the joint panel.
