Top Iloilo City leaders throw their support behind Camille Villar in bid for Senate seat

As the 2025 midterm elections draw near, senatorial candidate Camille Villar received a significant boost in Western Visayas after securing the endorsement of prominent Iloilo City leaders during the kickoff rally of Team Uswag at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand on Friday.

The young legislator-entrepreneur was warmly welcomed by Team Uswag candidates, led by mayoral aspirant Inday Raisa Treñas and incumbent Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon, during their proclamation event. Villar’s presence at the local rally highlighted growing support for her platform across regional strongholds.

“Suportahan naton sang todo todo para sa Senado Camille Villar, #66!” declared Raisa Treñas to an energized crowd. “Together, we can create positive change!”

The Uswag Ilonggo party-list, represented by Rep. James “Jojo” Ang, also threw its support behind Villar, vowing to mobilize their base in support of her senatorial campaign.

Villar, in her address, reiterated her commitment to push for legislation that prioritizes livelihood opportunities, job generation, gender equality, and educational reform. She also highlighted her advocacy for accessible housing for all Filipino families.

“Patuloy kong isusulong ang mga programang magbibigay ng kabuhayan, trabaho, at tahanan para sa bawat pamilyang Pilipino,” she said, emphasizing her longstanding work in both government and the private sector.

Boasting over 15 years of experience in public service and business, Villar aims to bring a practical and forward-thinking approach to the Senate, should she be elected.

“Handa po akong maging bagong boses ninyo sa Senado—isang tinig na makikinig, kikilos, at maghahatid ng solusyon sa tunay na pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan,” Villar said.

As the youngest among the senatorial hopefuls, Villar’s message struck a chord with younger voters and women, many of whom are seeking fresh perspectives in national policymaking.

Her appearance in Iloilo marked the latest leg in what supporters describe as a growing groundswell for her candidacy, grounded in a platform of inclusive development and practical reforms.
