Municipal police chief killed in accident

The chief of police of Santa Ana, Cagayan was killed in a car accident in Sitio Limbus, Barangay Rapuli, Santa Ana on Tuesday afternoon, April 1.

Investigation said Police Major Ranolfo Gabatin was driving a Toyota Vios at 4 p.m. and signaled to overtake a slow moving vehicle.

However, a Toyota Hi Ace Commuter Deluxe Van driven by Joseph Munzon in front accelerated and Gabatin rammed the van.

Gabatin's vehicle overturned. He sustained injuries and was brought to a hospital in Santa Ana where he was declared dead at 8:45 p.m.

Munzon is in police custody and follow-up investigation is being conducted.
