Changan Philippines has officially confirmed its entry into the new energy vehicle (NEV) market with the upcoming launch of four electrified models at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). This announcement aligns with our reports published back in January, where the Nevo Q05 was identified as a likely addition to the lineup. The brand is now intensifying its efforts as MIAS 2025 approaches, marking a key milestone in its local strategy.
The confirmation comes as Inchcape Philippines, the exclusive distributor of Changan vehicles in the country, has formally announced that the brand will unveil the Changan Nevo Q05 Plug-In Hybrid EV, the Changan Nevo Hunter K50 Range-Extended EV (REEV), the Changan Lumin Battery EV (BEV), and the Changan Nevo A05 Plug-In Hybrid EV (PHEV) during this year's MIAS.
Three of the four models will carry the new Changan "101 Nevo" badge, representing the brand’s mid-range EV line. As explained in an official release, "Changan 101 occupies the position of ‘Digital Intelligence Evolution New Vehicle,’ leading the brand’s transformation to the era of Digital Intelligence Vehicle where new automotive products that are simple, friendly, intelligent, and futuristic are offered."
The Nevo Q05, previously speculated in early reports, is confirmed to arrive in two variants: the SE base model and the higher-spec iD variant. Both variants are designed to offer drivers versatile performance with three selectable drive modes, namely: Pure Electric, Hybrid, and Priority Electric. The Q05 is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine combined with an electric motor, delivering a total system output of 214-PS and 330-Nm of torque. Battery options range from 9.07-kWh to 18.99-kWh, with an all-electric range between 60 to 125 kilometers, depending on the configuration. Pricing for the Nevo Q05 SE starts at ₱1,200,000, down from its SRP of ₱1,259,000, while the Q05 iD is priced at ₱1,383,000, with a discount from its original ₱1,449,000 price tag.
Meanwhile, the Hunter K50 REEV, which was showcased at last year's Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), is to be offered in two trims: the 4x2 Knight and 4x4 Knight. It features a 2.0T Blue Whale range extender integrated with a battery-electric drivetrain that includes a 31.18-kWh battery. The 4x2 variant comes equipped with a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 177-PS, while the 4x4 version uses a dual-motor setup generating 95-PS in the front and 177-PS in the rear, for a combined torque output of 470-Nm. The Hunter REEV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and boasts a pure electric range of 180 kilometers. When the fuel tank is factored in, it offers a total range of over 1,000 kilometers. A 3.3-kW external power discharge feature with 220V outlets also allows it to run appliances such as power tools or camping equipment for extended periods. Initial pricing for the Changan Hunter K50 REEV 4x2 Knight is ₱1,644,000, with a discount from its ₱1,699,000 SRP. The 4x4 Knight variant comes in at an introductory price of ₱1,880,000, down from its SRP of ₱1,970,000.
The smallest of the group, the Changan Lumin, enters the lineup as the brand's first mini battery EV. Targeted at city dwellers, this compact hatchback features a modern and minimalist design paired with smart and innovative features. Designed to be both affordable and user-friendly, the Lumin is intended for those seeking a fun and practical option for urban driving. Two variants will be offered: the Lumin S and Lumin L. The Lumin S is priced at ₱669,000 after a discount from its original ₱699,999 SRP, while the Lumin L will retail for ₱764,000, down from its SRP of ₱799,000.
Lastly, the Nevo A05, a five-seater plug-in hybrid sedan, is set for preview at MIAS before its official launch later this year. It features a modern and sophisticated exterior design, complemented by advanced technology integrated within its plug-in hybrid drivetrain. The A05 will serve as an accessible yet refined option in the compact sedan category, with a launch window set for the second half of 2025. Introductory pricing for the Nevo A05 is pegged at ₱1,140,000, reflecting a ₱55,000 discount from its suggested retail price of ₱1,195,000.
The launch event at MIAS 2025 is a culmination of the brand's recent efforts to generate interest in its upcoming products. It also signals the brand's positioning as a provider of intelligent and low-carbon mobility solutions in the Philippines. The NEVs are a part of a broader transformation backed by its global research and development network, which spans China, Italy, Germany, Japan, the UK, and the USA. With 160 years of industrial expertise, including 65 years dedicated to automotive innovation, Changan is positioning itself to compete seriously in the electrified mobility space here and abroad.
