The owner of a car shop in Taguig which the Bureau of Customs (BOC) had raided in February has denied allegations of importing and smuggling luxury vehicles.
In a letter sent to media entities, the lawyer of Auto Vault Speed Shop said the company “has never been involved in the importation or sale of motor vehicles.”
“Autovault is a corporation duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. It is engaged in providing car detailing and maintenance services to its customers,” the owner’s legal team stated in their letter.
According to the lawyer for Auto Vault, the vehicles that were subject of the investigation and inspection of the BOC “are all privately-owned vehicles and mostly purchased from local dealerships.”
“In fact, these vehicles still bore the Dealer Plates or Conduction plates displaying the name of the dealership from where they were purchased during the alleged raid,” they said in a statement.
According to the lawyer, the owners of these vehicles being serviced by AutoVault have already furnished the BOC with copies of the relevant and required documentation for purposes of clearing the shop from the investigation.
The owner of the shop also expressed their position that it is unfair to be “painted as an entity involved in the illegal practice of importing and selling smuggled luxury vehicles.”
In the shop’s website, Auto Vault Speed Shop said it offers storage facility equipped with closed-circuit television (CCTV) system for luxury vehicles.
