President Marcos has appointed Maguindanao del Norte Governor Abdulraof Macacua as the interim chief minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Malacañang confirmed.

Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro confirmed Macacua's appointment in a text message on Sunday evening, March 9.
Macacua, who replaced Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Chair Ahod Balawag “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim, will serve as BARMM interim chief minister until the winners in the region's first parliamentary elections are confirmed in October.
Before this, Macacua was a commissioner of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC), the interim governing body of BARMM, and served as a member of the Bangsamoro Parliament.
President Marcos appointed Macacua as the officer-in-charge (OIC) governor of the newly created province of Maguindanao del Norte on April 8, 2023, following its establishment under Republic Act (RA) No.11550 and a plebiscite in September 2022.
He was reappointed as the full-fledged governor of the province on April 28, 2023.
