The 25-year-old pride of Ifugao is set to take on Colombian pug Jose Sanmartin for his US debut on March 22 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Setting his sights on a potential title fight this year, Martin is looking to impress in the world's boxing mecca which serves as a hotbed for the sport's top prospects and future champions.

“I am so thrilled to be fighting in Las Vegas, Nevada. When I was a little boy, I grew up watching some of the greatest fighters in boxing history all showcasing their talents in Las Vegas. I watched many Manny Pacquiao fights out there, and now I’m fighting in Las Vegas,” Martin said.

“This is a dream come true,’’ he added ahead of the 12-round non-title super bantamweight bout.

Martin, who remains undefeated with 25 wins, 20 of which by way of knockout, is coming off two dominant wins over Anthony Jimenez Salas and Ruben Tostado Garcia.

However, Sanmartin poses a much bigger threat as he is the more experienced fighter evident with his 35-9-1 record highlighted by 21 knockouts.

But that kind of challenge is exactly what the Filipino needs if he wants to land a title eliminator fight, especially since Sanmartin had already challenged boxing champions including former World Boxing Organization (WBO) super bantamweight champion Emmanuel Navarrete and Elijah Pierce.

“This is a very exciting time in Carl’s career. To have his first fight here in the United States to be in Las Vegas where Carl’s idol Manny Pacquiao has fought so many times is a dream come true. Carl is looking to impress everyone next week on his way to his ultimate goal of winning the world title in 2025,” said International matchmaker and MP Promotions president Sean Gibbons.
