Bong Revilla overwhelmed by OFWs' welcome in Singapore
An emotional Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. thanked overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Singapore during his recent visit in the country.

“Napaluha ako sa napakainit na pagtanggap ng ating mga kababayan. Napakasarap sa pakiramdam na maramdaman ang kanilang pagmamahal at suporta (I was moved to tears by the warm welcome of our countrymen. It felt so good to feel their love and support),” said Revilla, who is running for reelection in the upcoming May elections during his visit to Singapore.
Revilla’s message was captured live on his official Facebook page. During his visit to Singapore on Saturday, March 8, the lawmaker gave updates on his legislative work—particularly those benefitting OFWs, as well as listen to their concerns.
On Sunday, March 9, the senator made a spontaneous visit to the bustling Lucky Plaza Mall on Orchard Road where Singapore-based Filipinos flocked to see him, eager to share their stories, take photos, and express their gratitude.
Despite the crowd, the senator took the time to interact with his kababayans, offering words of encouragement and genuine concern for their well-being.
Revilla also emphasized his unwavering support for OFWs through key legislations like RA 10002 or the “Migrant and Overseas Filipinos Act of 2009” and RA 11641, which established the Department of Migrant Workers.
At the same time, the lawmaker shared his plans to advance more initiatives that would safeguard OFW welfare, including the “Bagong Bayani Ward Act” (SBN 1512) to establish dedicated hospital wards for OFWs and Senate Bill No. (SBN) 985 to ensure the safety of their remittances.
He also discussed the SBN 265, which aims to provide credit assistance to OFWs, and SBN 1280, mandating free PhilHealth coverage for pre-employment medical services.
Among Revilla’s advocacies and legislative accomplishments include the “Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act” (RA 11997), “Anti-No Permit, No Exam Policy Act” (RA 11984), “Free College Entrance Examination Act” (RA 12006), “Expanded Centenarians Act” (RA 11982), and the “Permanent Validity of Certificates of Live Birth, Death, and Marriage Act” (RA 11909).
