A series of activities honoring women was held in some parts of Binangonan, Rizal, as part of the month-long celebration of Women’s Month.
Members of the women sector in the town took advantage of the free check-up in the medical and dental mission, free laboratory test, seminar, and livelihood fair either at the municipal grounds or in the villages since March 1.
Binangonan’s women’s group, the Barkadahan ng mga Kababaihan ng Binangonan (BKB) offered the products of their livelihood activities at a trade fair held outside the Ynares Auditorium fronting the municipal hall during the weekend.
Seminars on various topics on women’s health were also presented by the municipal government according to Mayor Cesar Ynares, whose wife, Dr. Rose Martha Callanta Ynares, spearheads the BKB.
Women employees of the municipal government also availed of the free check-up and screening on diabetes, cervical cancer, and other women’s health issues.
Dr. Callanta Ynares also led her group in a series of tree planting activities held in community gardens in different villages in the town.
The same group offered free Zumba sessions at the town hall grounds.

Municipal officials and employees also vowed to wear purple shirts on all Wednesdays of March for the Purple Wednesday activity as part of the women’s month happenings.
On March 8, municipal officials and employees attended a Holy Mass at Saint Ursula Parish Church coinciding with the celebration of International Women's Day.
The trade fair across the municipal grounds showcases free massage therapy, nail care, hair cut and coloring, and mug and T-shirt printing as services while products on sale are dishwashing liquid and fabric conditioner, processed meat products, breads and pastries, fashion bags, and other ladies' accessories.
