3 killed as van rams wall in Benguet

TUBA, Benguet – Three persons were killed when their van crashed into a wall  on Marcos Highway here before dawn on Sunday, March 9.

The Tuba Municipal Police Station identified the victims as Justine Nichole Fernandez Bungay, 22; Homer Lozano, 46, and Arlene Nanquil, 56.

Five other passengers sustained multiple injuries and were taken to the hospital. Fourteen individuals, including the driver, sustained minor injuries.

A report said the van reportedly reportedly experienced mechanical failure while navigating a sharp curve and swerved and hit a concrete parapet.

The driver is under the custody of the Tuba MPS for investigation.

The van carrying 22 people aged five to 66 was bound to Pampanga from Baguio City. The vehicle sustained heavy damage.

Police reminded motorists to exercise caution, ensure vehicle roadworthiness, and observe traffic regulations especially on curved and high-risk roads following the accident.
