Reelectionist Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa was recently declared the adopted son of the Municipality of T’Boli, and named by tribespeople as “Datu Kemlang” the protector of the T’Boli people.

The people of T’Boli passed Municipal Resolution No. 02, which was awarded to Dela Rosa during his visit to the town on March 6, Thursday.
During his speech after receiving the resolution, Dela Rosa expressed his gratitude for the honor given to him by the T’boli people, especially amid the criticisms raised against him.
Datu Kemlung means defender, protector. Very appropriate sa aking personality ang inyong ibinigay niyong pangalan, Datu Kemlung (I can't explain how I feel, the gratitude and happiness that you've made me the adopted son of T’Boli. I understand the meaning of my name, Datu Kemlung. Datu Kemlung means defender, protector. The name you've given me, Datu Kemlung, suits my personality very well),” the Mindanaoan lawmaker said.
“Huwag po kayong mag-alala, hindi po masasayang ang inyong pag-adopt sa akin (Don't worry, your decision to adopt me won't be in vain). I will make you proud being your adopted son of the T’Boli Tribe,” he added.
True to his commitment to protect not only the T’Boli tribe, Dela Rosa again explained why he needed to implement the war on drugs during the Duterte administration.
(I am being criticized by the opposing camp for running for senator with blood on my hands... My response to that is, I don’t care if my hands are stained with blood as long as it’s the blood of evildoers. If my hands need to be stained with blood to protect the lives of honest, kind, and law-abiding citizens, then so be it)” Dela Rosa, a former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, said.
Huwag ka nang magpulis if you are not ready to die, if you are not ready to kill and be killed. What am I supposed to do? Why did I become a police officer if I can't handle this? Don't become a cop if you're not ready to die, if you're not prepared to kill or be killed. You need that in order to protect yourself; you have to be ready to defend yourself. You're useless as a police officer if you can't protect the peace-loving people),” he emphasized.
The reelectionist senator lamented that the gains of the Duterte administration’s drug war are slowly going to waste because of the resurgence of narcotics on the streets.
He then appealed to the parents to look after their children so they wouldn’t be encouraged to use illegal drugs.
