The Parañaque City government will soon launch the “Paleng-QR Plus” program promoting cashless payments in the city’s public markets, other businesses, and service components.
According to Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez, the city government will be launching the program at La Huerta Public Market on March 14.
He explained that the “Paleng-QR Plus” was developed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) with the aim to build a digital payments ecosystem in the country by promoting cashless payments in public markets and local transportation, particularly tricycles.
He said the city government, in support to the Paleng-QR Plus” program of the BSP, came out with a resolution on Feb. 20 to encourage all business and service components in the city to adopt the QR PH digital payment transaction.
The mayor said the city government values the importance of digital payments as an essential mode for business and transportation system due to their efficiency, convenience, security and ability to enhance customers experiences and operational effectiveness.
He added that adopting digital payment methods not only meets evolving customers expectations, but also drives business growth and improves service delivery.
