Customer service, manufacturing among top hiring sectors—DOLE
By Trixee Rosel

The country’s labor market remains strong, with customer service and manufacturing among the top sectors driving employment nationwide, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported.
Citing data from the Bureau of Local Employment (BLE), DOLE said customer service assistants and call center agents registered the most job vacancies from Feb. 7 to 13, with 4,961 openings each.
The manufacturing sector followed closely, with 3,492 vacancies for production machine operators and 2,707 for production workers, underscoring its crucial role in job creation.
Domestic work also remained in demand, with 1,000 openings for domestic helpers, based on listings from the Public Employment Service Office’s (PESO) Employment Information System (PEIS) and PhilJobNet, the government’s job-matching platform.
The steady demand for customer service workers reflects the sustained expansion of the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, which employs around 1.7 million Filipinos and contributes approximately $32 billion annually to the economy.
Meanwhile, consistent hiring in manufacturing highlights its role in economic growth, accounting for nearly 19 percent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) and supporting key industries such as electronics, automotive, and food processing.
DOLE reaffirmed its commitment to expanding employment opportunities by working with local governments and private firms, strengthening job-matching initiatives through job fairs and digital platforms.
