The event gathered representatives from various Metro Manila local government units (LGUs) to exchange knowledge and strategies on disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.

According to the city's Public Information Office (PIO), Tangguyob is a collaborative initiative led by the Department of the Interior and Local Government - National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) to strengthen disaster resilience among LGUs.

The program is named after an indigenous trumpet historically used to call assemblies.

Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan underscored his administration’s commitment to disaster preparedness, ensuring swift and effective emergency response for residents.

Even before I took office, I promised the people of Caloocan that we would prioritize disaster response programs. Many areas in our city remain high-risk, so we ensured that our Alert and Monitoring Stations operate 24/7),” he said.

“We also increased emergency vehicles for faster response and intensified clean-up efforts to reduce flooding,” Malapitan added.

The mayor also encouraged other local leaders to share best practices and continuously improve their DRRM programs.

By exchanging knowledge, we can ensure that our cities are truly prepared for any disaster),” he said.
