San Juan City kicks off National Women's Month celebrations

The San Juan City local government kicked off its celebration of National Women’s Month on Friday, March 7, to reaffirm its commitment to women's empowerment.
Organized by the City Social Welfare and Development Department and led by San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, the city's celebration offered various programs focusing on healthcare, employment opportunities, legal assistance, and wellness services to ensure that San Juaneñas receive the support they deserve.
These include a Zumba session at the city hall's open parking lot, a mini job fair participated in by 10 companies, and a medical mission held at the Multi-Purpose Hall in partnership with Cardinal Santos Medical Center, Caring Keri Foundation, and Cardinal Medical Charities Foundation, Inc.
The medical mission offers free medical check-ups for pre-natal care for expectant mothers and ovarian cyst screening. Diagnostic services were also available during the event including pap smear, transvaginal ultrasound, and lay fora lecture.
Meanwhile, women in need of legal advice were accommodated at the Legal Assistance Desk set up by the city government where the Public Attorney’s Office and Prosecutor’s Office provided free consultations on family, labor, and other legal concerns.
A Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Mobile Services unit was also available during the event.
The city government also offered free beauty and wellness services to San Juaneñas including haircuts, manicure/pedicure, back massages, facial treatment, and brow shaping.
"Through these initiatives, San Juan City continues to champion women’s rights and child protection by ensuring access to healthcare, employment, and legal resources." Zamora said.
