CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga –The Police Regional Office-3 (Central Luzon) seized 603 loose firearms from Jan. 12 to March 3.
PRO-3 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said 599 were short firearms and four were light weapons. Two-hundred thirty of them were from Nueva Ecija.
She said that they are stepping up the campaign against loose firearms to curb election-related violence and uphold law and order in Central Luzon.
"The success of this campaign, especially in Nueva Ecija, reflects our steadfast commitment to public safety. We urge communities to remain vigilant and report any illegal firearms to help maintain peace and order,” she said.
Meanwhile, police arrested two suspected drug pushers and seized 500 grams of shabu valued at P3.4 million in a buy-bust operation in Purok 2, Barangay Santa Arcadia, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija on March 5.
Police Col. Ferdinand D. Germino, Nueva Ecija police chief, said the suspects, a 47-year-old woman from Santo Domingo, Nueva Ecija and a 42-year-old male from Cabanatuan City, were apprehended after they sold one-heat sealed transparent plastic sachet of shabu to a police poseur-buyer.
Suspects face drug-related charges.
