PAGASA: Rains, thunderstorms likely in parts of Luzon this weekend; warm weather in the rest of the country

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the shear line and northeast monsoon will continue to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms to parts of Luzon over the weekend, while the rest of the country will experience warm and generally dry weather.

In its weekly weather outlook issued on Friday, March 7, PAGASA said the shear line—formed by the collision of cold winds from the northeast monsoon (amihan) and warm breezes from the Pacific Ocean (easterlies)—will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms to Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, Kalinga, Isabela, and Aurora on Saturday, March 8.

The amihan will also bring isolated light rains in Central Luzon and the rest of Northern Luzon.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the rest of the country will experience warm and mostly sunny weather, with only isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

From Sunday to Wednesday, March 9 to 12, the effects of the shear line and the amihan will gradually weaken.

By Sunday, PAGASA said Batanes and Cagayan will experience cloudy skies with rains due to the northeast monsoon, but the rest of the country will continue to warm weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

From Thursday to Friday, March 13 to 14, the country will see warm weather, with isolated thunderstorms. The effects of the shear line and amihan will continue to weaken, bringing drier conditions to most areas.
