Ghost students in SHS voucher program alarming, must stop—Bam Aquino
Former senator Bam Aquino condemned the "ghost students" scheme under the Senior High School (SHS) Voucher Program in some private schools.

Aquino, who is aiming for a comeback at the Senate in the 2025 May polls, said the issue must be investigated to hold those involved in the scheme liable.
“Nakakabahala talaga ang balitang ito ng ghost students. Pera po ito na dapat napupunta sa mga kabataang nangangailangan. Dapat matigil iyan (The reports on ghost students is alarming. These are money that should go to those who need it. This must stop),” Aquino said on Friday, March 7.
He also said he is confident that Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara would initiate an investigation on the alleged ghost students scheme.
“Iyong mga nagnanakaw ng pera sa mga estudyante natin, dapat silang makulong at dapat nang matigil ang practice na ito (Those who are stealing money from our students must be imprisoned and this practice must stop),” Aquino said.
“Iyang ganyang klaseng corruption, napakasama talaga. Iyong pera para sa ating kabataan, dapat napupunta sa taumbayan, at hindi binubulsa ng iilan,” giit pa niya (This kind of corruption is completely vile. The money for the youth must go to the people, and should not be pocketed by some),"Aquino added.
Aquino, who is running as an independent senatorial candidate, further said if he is elected again, he will make sure to put an end to such corrupt activity.
