The Valenzuela City Police Station (VCPS) said the suspect, identified as "JP", was spotted by patrolling police officers at around 9 p.m. along Ulingan West Street.
The police became suspicious when they noticed him wearing an olive-green Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) and Goa pants, which did not conform with the official police attire.
VCPS chief Col. Nixon Cayaban explained that JP was wearing the BDU under a pixelated long-sleeved police uniform an blue Goa pants, which is inconsistent with standard police regulations.
When questioned, JP failed to provide any credentials proving he was a police officer.
The police officers later found an improvised shotgun with live ammunition tucked in his waistband. He failed to present legal documents for the firearm.
The suspect is facing charges for violation of Article 179 of the Revised Penal Code (illegal use of uniforms and insignia) and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition) in relation to Batas Pambansa Blg. 881 (Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines). (Jhoana Mae Delfin)
