British foreign secretary Lammy to visit Manila this Saturday
United Kingdom Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs David Lammy will visit the Philippines on Saturday, March 8, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced.

During his one-day visit, Lammy will meet with President Marcos, DFA Secretary Enrique Manalo, Department of Defense (DND) Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, and officials from the Philippine Coast Guard and Department of Social Welfare and Development.
According to DFA Spokesperson Teresita Daza, Lammy's visit is envisioned to solidify the enhanced partnership between the two countries.
"Secretary Lammy's visit is envisioned to solidify the enhanced partnership between the Philippines and the United Kingdom, which was launched in 2021 through the signing of the Joint Framework of the Enhanced Partnership, and thereby to further deepen Philippine-UK bilateral relations," Daza said in a video announcement on Friday, March 7.
Lammy and Manalo are expected to review cooperation across various pillars of the Enhanced Partnership, such as trade and investments, defense, maritime, climate change and environment, and science and technology.
The foreign ministers will exchange views and insights on regional and international issues of mutual concern in relation to the Philippine-UK commitment to promote peace, stability, and a rules-based international order.
Daza said the visit will also set in motion preparations for the commemoration of the 80 years of Philippine-UK bilateral relations in 2026.
