BACOLOD CITY – The City Health Office has recorded the first suspected dengue fatality here this year, a 64-year-old man from Barangay Alijis.

Dr. Grace Tan, head of the CHO-Environmental Sanitation Division, said the patient had undocumented fever for four days and suffered cough, shortness of breath, and vomiting.
Tan said the patient was admitted to a hospital on Feb. 3 and passed away two days later on Feb. 5.
The CHO said 180 dengue cases were recorded in this city from Feb. 16 to 22, 172.7 percent higher compared to the same period last year with 66 and no fatality.
Barangay Mansilingan has 17, followed by Barangays Alijis and Estefania with 16 each, Taculing and Singcang-Airport with 13 each, Tangub, 12, and Villamonte, 11.
Seventy-four were aged one to 10, 58 aged 11 to 19, and one one-year-old.
The CHO reminded the public here to ensure clean surroundings to prevent dengue.
